“Low-life” thieves have stolen a dead little girl’s tiara from her grave on the Gold Coast.

Brittney Conway, 3, tragically died in Queensland Children’s Hospital July 2020 after accidentally ingesting a toxic battery.

Her mother, Lorraine, took to community Facebook sites at the weekend to reveal her daughter’s tiara had been stolen from a lockbox shrine at the Mudgeeraba Cemetery.

“Please help,” she begged.

Mrs Conway and husband David told of their heartbreak in 2020 after Brittney became the latest child to die after swallowing a battery.

“She just had a beautiful nature … just a really content and happy little girl,” Mrs Conway told the ABC.

“She had a thousand sparkles in her eyes.”

Gold Coast district officer Craig Hanlon said officers were aware of the incident involving the stolen tiara over the weekend.

Mr Hanlon said they had reached out to the mother after an appeal was made through social media to retrieve the stolen tiara.

“She would be happy if that happened and not get police involved,’” he said

Mr Hanlon said the incident was “disgusting” and shared his condolences with the mother and family.

“It’s a tiara on the grave of a very young girl who passed away,” he said.

“We’ll do everything we can to support the mother and the family through this terrible tragedy.”
