Lawyer withdraws due to ‘conflict’ on Daisy Hill young mum Keisha Thompson’s murder case

Logan couple charged with the murder of 23-year-old mother Keisha Thompson in an alleged hit-and-run have changed lawyers after a “conflict”.

A Logan man and woman charged with the murder of a 23-year-old mother at Daisy Hill have changed lawyers after a “conflict”.

Larissa Rita Mae-Leigh Sant, 24, and Tyler Scott William James, 27, both had their charges of murder and domestic violence offences in relation to the death of Keisha Thompson mentioned at Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.

Detectives have alleged the 4WD that struck and killed Ms Thompson was being driven by her ex-partner James’ new girlfriend, Sant.

Police have alleged they came up with the plan to kill the young mother together.

They have not entered any pleas.

The accused did not appear in court and were represented by their lawyer Robert Burns from Burns Law.

Mr Burns said due to conflict he would withdraw from the matter.

“I am happy to stand down,” Mr Burns said.

Ken Mackenzie from Mackenzie Mitchell will represent Ms Sant while a duty lawyer will represent Mr James.

Police Prosecutor Cody Jones said there was no further information to present at that stage.

“It’s a complicated matter,” Sergeant Jones said.

Police Prosecutor said the issue with presenting a partial brief was the ‘dribs and drabs’.

“It’s preferable to submit a brief all in one go, perhaps the beginning of October could be the time frame,” Sergeant Tahana said.
