A Whitsunday man has used his scooter to smash windows at an older woman’s house.

Kane Charles Barbour, 30, caused a ruckus at a Cannonvale address, where a 59-year-old woman lives, on February 24.

Prosecutor Ruth Whisker told the court Barbour had banged on the doors and windows and yelled near the premises before he used his scooter to smash the windows as well as the mailbox.

She added that the 59-year-old woman and Barbour were known to each other.

Ms Whisker said the woman was not present at the address when the events occurred, but had subsequently been alerted to what was occurring and called police.

Barbour was arrested a first time before being released on bail, but he had failed to appear at the first occasion on March 18.

PD Law solicitor Elizabeth Smith said Barbour, who was still 29 at the time of the offences, was affected by alcohol which provided context for his behaviour.

She said he had no prior history of this nature before adding that restitution was not sought by the woman as Barbour had already paid for repairs.

Barbour pleaded guilty to wilful damage and to failing to appear before the Proserpine Magistrates Court.

He was fined $850 and no convictions were recorded.
