Insta-famous Lamborghini seized over hooning

A $385,000 car that features in brazen social posts made by a self-proclaimed stock market guru has been seized by police following repeated hooning complaints.

A Lamborghini featured in brazen social media posts by a self-proclaimed stock market guru has been seized by police after fed up Gold Coast residents complained the car was repeatedly hurtling through streetsat up to 70km/h over the speed limit.

Three reports were made to police between August 22 and August 28, with people complaining about the supercar – worth almost $400,000, “travelling at high speed”.

Police launched an investigation and on September 22, arrived at a Paradise Point apartment complex with a search warrant.

The Lamborghini was towed away and three people were fined for speeding.

The car, with its distinctive stock market-inspired number plate, features prominently in the social media posts of Tyson Scholz, a 35-year-old Gold Coast-based global equity trader.

His social media accounts are packed with photos of luxury cars, boats and videos filmed inside a Lamborghini as it races down suburban streets.

A bizarre video appeared on Mr Scholz’s social media yesterday, appearing to show the car was already back in his possession along with a tribute to “the dogs” who reported his hooning to police.

Police confirmed a 35-year-old Paradise Point man was fined for allegedly driving at 120km/h in a 70km/h zone on Marine Pde, Biggera Waters, on August 26.

He was also fined for using a mobile phone while driving.

A Paradise Point woman, 25, was fined for allegedly speeding at 123km/h in a 70km/h zone on the Gold Coast Highway at Miami on August 22.

A Paradise Point man, 33, was fined for allegedly travelling 124km/h in a 50km/h zone on August 28 on Thrush Ave at Paradise Point.

All will have their licences suspended for six months because they each allegedly broke the speed limit by more than 40km/h.

Road Policing Investigations Unit Acting Sergeant Deb McDougall urged drivers to seriously consider the consequences of their actions when they got behind the wheel.
