Hollywood movie star Mark Wahlberg has been cluttering camera rolls all over the Gold Coast.
The Ted actor, who is staying at the Langham Hotel in Surfers Paradise while filming his new movie Balls Up, has been happily posing with fans as he explores the Glitter Strip.
Carolyn Geaney and Mamie Baxter-McCurdy, both disability support workers, were having afternoon tea at the luxury property on Thursday when they spied the star.
“We saw him walk past with his wife and we looked at each other and said, that’s Mark Wahlberg, let’s see if we can get a photo,” Ms Geaney said.
“And we walked around to the foyer to the lift area where he was waiting.
“Mamie approached him and said we work for a client who has a disability and is a big fan of his and would he mind if we got a photo to show him.
“He said ‘Yeah sure, you’ll have to make it quick’ and pointed at the lift.
“Then we asked his friend if he would mind taking it. We said thank you and I can’t remember much else.
“I was starstruck and couldn’t wait to show our client.”
Wahlberg has also been spotted out the front of Sacred Heart Church in Surfers Paradise, saying “Happy Sunday buddy, God bless you stay prayed up” in a video.
Insiders revealed he had booked the Langham’s Chairman’s Ocean Suite, which costs about $4500 a night, during filming. The production is expected to inject $64.8m into the Queensland economy and has employed up to 250 local cast and crew.
