Gout Gout has chins-wagging the world over for his electric display at the weekend, clocking sub 20-seconds in the 200m for the first time.
The last prodigy to create such a buzz? None other than the undisputed greatest of all time on the track, Usain Bolt.
As a lean, lanky 17-year-old in 2004, Bolt clocked 19.93 seconds in the 200m and set the athletics world alight.
Four years later he was the most marketable man in the world as he effortlessly dominated the Beijing Olympics.
Flash forward two decades and Gout’s time of 19.98 seconds as a 17-year-old has the comparisons coming in thick and fast.
While Gout’s time won’t officially count because it was wind assisted, he still ran it.
With the Los Angeles Olympics just over three years away and Brisbane following in 2032, Australians are daring to dream.
See how Gout stacks up against a 17-year-old Usain Bolt in the video above.
