GOLD Coast locals and visitors face carparking confusion next week with the sudden termination of smartphone-based parking at city meters.
PayStay, which has had the contract to provide the convenient app-based service, announced today its service would no longer be offered to find, navigate and pay for parking.
It means motorists will have to pay for parking the old-fashioned way — with coins or credit cards.

“From the 16th of July, to make payment for your parking in Gold Coast managed parking spaces, you will need to use a parking meter,” the company told users in an email.
“Please note that PayStay is continuing to expand its services across the country and is available in multiple locations throughout QLD and Australia.”
A Gold Coast City Council spokeswoman said the PayStay contract was ‘coming to an end’.
“The City is on the verge of introducing a new parking application to help people find and pay for parking more easily,” she said.
“The City has listened to the community and will continue to identify opportunities to improve parking on the Gold Coast.”
