The reasons for Mr Green’s exit are unclear, though LNP sources have said it was for financial reasons related to funding the campaign.

Mr Green is understood to have also quit the LNP altogether.

The LNP will instead replace him with Kyle McMillen, a young veteran who failed to get preselected in the marginal seat of Lilley.

Mr McMillen works at the Redbank offices of weapons maker Rheinmetall, which is located within the seat of Oxley.
