This week I set off to uncover a hidden cafe in the Brisbane CBD that is a haven for corporate types and trendy city-goers. It was worth getting lost for.

I got lost on my way, but it was worth it to uncover a hidden Brisbane CBD cafe gem.
Tucked away behind Charlotte St in Brisbane’s CBD, John Mills Himself is a haven for corporate workers, trendy city-goers who know what’s what, and (this morning) me.
After I walked down the wrong lane (thank you Google Maps), a kind stranger waved me down to point me in the right direction and I was on my way.
I finally took the correct turn, went up some stairs, down some stairs, and through a hallway, to find myself at the back of a line.
The morning rush was in full swing but, despite the line of people out the door, the cafe’s staff were incredibly calm and friendly.
I ordered an iced oat late and a chocolate croissant, which I was handed straight away, and found myself a spot to sit.
My coffee was brought to me shortly after, along with a glass of water.
The exposed-brick walls and warm yellow lighting made for a cozy setting, and the small space made for great people-watching.
As I sipped my latte, I watched groups of corporate button-ups and lanyards, and trendy moustache-mullet combos and baggy jeans come and go.
For $14.90 and a brief misstep down the wrong city alley, I’d say it was well worth it.
