Queensland has recorded two new cases of COVID-19 today, including another healthcare worker at Ipswich Hospital.

Health Minister Steven Miles said the first case was a young female aged between 10 and 19, who was a household contact of an existing case, while the second was a woman in her 40s who was a healthcare worker at Ipswich Hospital.

There are now 25 active cases across the state.

Queensland Health Director General Dr John Wakefield said there are now five cases as part of the Ipswich Hospital cluster.

“At this stage the emergency department staff that had previously been under quarantine have tested negative and are now back at work,” he said.

“Elective surgery as a consequence for the next few days has had to be reduced... obviously our focus is on the patients who are affected by that.

“We’ve initiated a private hospital relationship which we have across the state to be able to support those patients who have had their surgery cancelled.”

He said over the weekend other health services around Brisbane have been mobilised to be able to support West Moreton with procedures and in the event there are more cases.
