COMEDIC Actor Chris Lilley will film a Netflix series in Queensland.

The Queensland Government announced today that the Summer Heights High creator would begin work on the 10-episode comedy project this month for the global streaming service.

It is Lilley’s first show in four years, since Jonah from Tonga aired in 2014.

The Logie award winner has been spotted living on the Gold Coast this year where he is believed to have been scouting local talent.

It is not known whether the show will feature new characters or see a return of past characters from his successful series.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the Netflix series would inject $6.35 million into the local economy.

“I am delighted to have enticed Chris Lilley and producer Laura Waters to Queensland,” the Premier said.

“The series will employ up to 250 Queensland cast and extras, plus around 100 Queensland crew.

“The project will also support two local screen practitioners, who will have the opportunity to work on the series to further develop their professional skills.”
