It’s been described by locals as “obscene, greedy, flashy and vulgar” but it doesn’t seem to bother Chris Hemsworth, with new drone photos revealing the Hollywood superstar is set to move into his shopping centre-sized mansion at Byron within weeks.

New drone photos reveal Hemsworth’s $20 million Byron Bay mega-mansion is rapidly nearing completion, with he and his family poised to move in any week now.
Workers look to be putting the finishing touches to shopping centre-sized hinterland hideaway high in the hills above Broken Head.
The 50m rooftop infinity pool is yet to be filled but palm trees are sprouting from the sprawling gardens.
The Avengers star and wife Elsa Pataky bought the spectacular 4.2ha property, with sweeping views of Seven Mile Beach, for $7 million in 2014.
They are splashing millions more to renovate the Balinese-style resort home that was on the property.
It will boast six bedrooms, a gym, steam room, media room, games room and vast outdoor living and play areas.
Locals have labelled it “obscene, greedy, flashy and vulgar” and said the once hippy haven of Byron Bay was becoming too Hollywood.
But real estate experts have said the celebrity drawcard was having a positive impact on the area.
The Hemsworths last year splashed more than $4 million on another Byron Bay property, overlooking Tallow Beach at Suffolk Park.
In an interview last year, Hemsworth spoke about growing up “broke” in rural Victoria and how he and Pataky were working to make sure their kids had an appreciation for money.
Hemsworth used his first big pay cheque to pay off his parents’ mortgage.
