The man allegedly killed in a brutal ambush outside a Brisbane gym on Monday is the brother of a world champion boxer.

Bikie associate Levi Johnson was allegedly ambushed and killed by a group of men in a suburban street in Carindale, as police and SES scour the scene for fresh clues.

A man arrested at the scene on Monday has since been charged with weapons offences. No charges have been laid in relation to Mr Johnson’s death.

Mr Johnson is the younger brother of world champion boxer Cherneka “Sugar Neekz” Johnson.

She posted a photograph on social media of the two of them together following his death.

The New Zealand-born Australian bantamweight fighter fought and beat Mexican boxer Melissa Esquivel in April for the IBF World Super Bantamweight title.

Cherneka posts often about her love for her family and paid tribute to Levi on his 21st birthday two years ago.

“I still remember the day my baby brother was born ... happy 21st bro, love you,” she wrote.

There is no suggestion Ms Johnson is herself a bikie associate.

A man arrested in bushland near the scene of the alleged murder in Brisbane’s southeast has been charged with a raft of weapons offences.

Stuart Galloway, 34, of East Brisbane, was arrested by dog squad officers just a few hundreds metres from where Mr Johnson, 23, was fatally stabbed on Pine Mountain Drive about 4pm on Monday.

He has since been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a weapon (revolver), possession of detachable magazines without licence and authority required to possess explosives.

His case was mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning and he was remanded in custody to appear on September 29.

The charges relate to items allegedly located at a Carindale residence, and form part of ongoing homicide investigations.

Following the location of additional CCTV, police can confirm that four men were involved in the initial altercation with the victim, not five.

Three men are still on the run.

The Courier-Mail has been told some of the men in the other group are believed to be associates of the Mongols, however are not patched members.

It came as mourners paid their respects to 23-year-old Mr Johnson.

Multiple SES crews and police officers were back at the scene of a fatal stabbing on Tuesday morning where Mr Johnson died.

Police described the attackwhich took place in full view of CCTV cameras – as “brazen” and “horrific”, saying Mr Johnson ran from his car after being confronted by the five men.

They had allegedly rammed his car and smashed his windscreen at the Goodlife gym car park on Pine Mountain Dr.

Mr Johnson escaped the car and ran to a street across the road, but was pursued by two of the men and stabbed to death about 1pm.

“One of the males has then confronted him up at the intersection … and has used a knife to stab him multiple times,” Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said.

“That male then returned and entered the Nissan Patrol. The remaining male then attempted to start the black Audi, but was unable to start that vehicle.”

He said that man fled on foot up the hill, turning left into Flame Tree Crescent.

The other four fled in the Nissan Patrol.

Police later found the man in nearby bushland about 4pm and took him into custody, but the other four remain on the run.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the stabbing attack was “very disturbing” but refused to provide any details about the ongoing investigation.

She declined to comment on the perceived increased frequency of bikie-related crime and violence in Queensland.

“We have our serious organised crime legislation in place (which is) some of the strictest in Australia, so I’ll let the police comment on that,” the Premier said on Tuesday morning.

The Courier-Mail understands Mr Johnson is known to the Comancheros, but is not a patched member and police are investigating alleged outlaw motorcycle gang links.

On Tuesday morning, two bunches of flowers had been placed by a street sign where Mr Johnson took his last breaths.

Messages of grief were written in the bunches, including “love you brother, Rest In Peace”.

SES crews searched through bushes around the stabbing scene and in bushland where one of the alleged suspects was arrested on Monday afternoon.

Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to get in touch, while also appealing for anyone who was on Creek Rd, Pine Mountain Rd, or near the backstreets, to come forward.

“We believe there are a number of people that witnessed this tragic event, so people that may have witnessed it or who have dashcam, we ask them to come forward,” he said.

“The motive at this stage is unknown,” Superintendent Massingham said.

“These males were extremely motivated to hunt this individual down. This incident was fully captured on CCTV. I have viewed that CCTV and it is confronting and horrific.”
