Brisbane’s 2032 Olympic mascot could be designed by the creators of smash-hit kids cartoon Bluey, it has been revealed.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk told Tuesday’s budget estimates hearing the team behind the popular show had reached out to offer to be part of the design of the city’s Olympic mascot.

Referring to plans for the 2032 Games, Ms Palaszczuk said “just last week, the makers of Bluey reached out to see if they can help design the Olympic mascot”.

Created in Queensland by Joe Brumm and produced by Ludo Studio, Bluey, a show centred around a family of Australian red and blue heeler dogs, has become one of the most-watched animated shows in the world.

“It would be an amazing opportunity and privilege for a Brisbane animation studio like Ludovto be part of the Brisbane 2032 Olympics,” Ludo Studio producer Sam Moor said.

“As Ludo Studio has a wonderful team of talented character animaters, we would be well suited to a challenge of this size and we would love the opportunity to pitch something unique for it.”

Following the Heeler family and set in Brisbane, the show has won an Emmy, two Logies and three Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA) awards.
