Social media baking star Brooke Bellamy has broken her silence nearly a month after being accused of plagiarising recipes in her best-selling cookbook Bake with Brooki.

The accusations were made by renowned Australian cookbook author Nagi Maehashi, who alleged that Bellamy copied her recipes for caramel slice and baklava.

Ms Bellamy said that she has worked very hard on her book and cannot comment on any questions asked over social media.

“I worked really hard on the book and really hard on the business, so just going to keep moving forward, ” Ms Bellamy told Nine news.

When asked about her limited public response, she said, “There’s other parties involved. I cannot [say more].”

In a separate social media post, Bellamy further addressed the controversy, stating, “I cannot say that I have invented cookies, cupcakes, brownies or cakes in the recipe book. They are all inspired from somewhere … I never subscribe to be part of a narrative that pits two women against each other, especially in the same industry.”

But Ms Maehashi claimed the similarities amounted to plagiarism.

However, Penguin Random House Australia, the publisher of Bellamy’s book, dismissed the claim, stating that all recipes were original and authored by Bellamy.

Ms Bellamy, who runs the popular Brooki Bakehouse, continues to deny any wrongdoing as debate over the cookbook’s originality unfolds online.
