Blake Mayocchi fighting for life after crash at Tiaro

A Maryborough man had to be resuscitated three times and is fighting for life in hospital after a horror crash at Tiaro. His dad has revealed his son has been damaged from ‘head to toe’.

Blake Mayocchi, 29, was driving home from work at Glenwood’s BP service station when he collided with a flat-bed semi-trailer on the Bruce Highway.

A father has shared a heartbreaking update after his son was critically injured in a crash at Tiaro last month.

Blake Mayocchi, 29, was driving home from work at Glenwood’s BP service station when he collided with a flat-bed semi-trailer on the Bruce Highway.

On Wednesday, his father Darrin told this publication it was the hardest thing he had ever been through.

“We don’t know if he’s going to make it,” Darrin said.

“We think he can hear us.”

Blake remains unconscious at Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Darrin said his son was lucky to still be alive after he had to be resuscitated three times at the scene of the crash.

An off duty nurse and doctor happened to be at the scene and were able to save his son, Darrin said.

Darrin had been opal mining in New South Wales when he got the news and had rushed to be by his son’s side.

Hi ex-wife and Blake’s mum Tania was also keeping a constant vigil.

“He’s damaged from head to toe,” Darrin said.

With his brain injury, Blake was too unstable for surgery, meaning doctors are still waiting to treat his broken jaw and leg.

Darrin said many people had been asking about Blake at the service station where he had been working and when he heard that, he had broken down.

His son had been a very active man, Darrin said, enjoying stargazing and using his metal detector to find old relics at old township sites.

Darrin has started a GoFundMe page that will help Blake’s family remain alongside him as he continues to fight to survive.

“Unfortunately, my son Blake is now in the fight of his life,” Darrin wrote on the GoFundMe page.

“Tania and I did not want to resort to this method of raising funds, but we have had to swallow our pride and humbly ask for your help and support financially.

“We would greatly appreciate any donations during this difficult time and if you could please share this page with as many people as possible.”
