A baby girl was hospitalised bloody and bruised after a rock was thrown through her bedroom window at Worongary on the Gold Coast early on Monday morning.
Mother April Stanley said she was woken by the sound of shattered glass and her baby Satuala’s screams at midnight.
“I just can’t believe that somebody would do that,” Ms Stanley told 7 News.
“My baby let out a bloodcurdling scream and I jumped up, picked her straight up out of the car and she was just covered in glass.”
The hurled rock had dispersed glass and shrapnel throughout Satuala’s room including inside her cot cutting the four-month-old.
“She was just covered in blood, it was dripping, I couldn‘t tell where it was coming from. Her eyes were closed, every single time she blinked, blood would come out,” Ms Stanley said.
Ms Stanley said she was panicked and confused as hospital doctors treated Satuala for cuts to her forehead and eyes.
Police visited her home on Tuesday as part of the investigation into who threw the rock with DNA results expected within a week, as reported by 7 News.
Ms Stanley said her family was sleeping together in the living room out of fear the perpetrators would strike again.
“I’m just not confident in staying here knowing that somebody’s still out there and nothing has been done,” she said.
