The sun is expected to break through the clouds in the southeast on Tuesday to make for picture-perfect beach weather this Australia Day.
With temperatures in Brisbane expected to reach 31C, and 29C on the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, cloud is expected to clear tomorrow morning for a sunny afternoon.
Bureau of Meteorology’s Pieter Claassen said tomorrow would have clearer skies than Monday.
“It should be less cloudy than it was today,” he said.

“We’ll start to see that could thin out, particularly tomorrow afternoon and we’ll definitely see some sunny breaks in the southeast.
“It’s less likely to see showers tomorrow than it is today. Activity is easing tomorrow but still around the coastal regions you could see a morning shower and inland we might get a very isolated afternoon shower or two.”
He said weather in Gatton would be up to 3C hotter than average temperatures, while in the state’s southwest there was a low intensity heatwave.
“It’s only a couple of degrees above average for them but the nights are staying pretty warm so that does classify as a low intensity heatwave for southwestern parts of the state over the next couple of days and it does move to central parts of the state later on this week.”
For today, Mr Claassen said Brisbane was expected to reach it’s January average temperature of 29C.
