A social media account belonging to Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner has been hacked.
The name of the X account, formerly known as Twitter, belonging to the Lord Mayor has been changed to John R. Alison, with his handle changed to @thanksdaddyfor2.
The hacker has also changed the bio of the profile to ‘Keeping not moving’ which appears to be a sledge at the Mayor’s slogan of ‘Keeping Brisbane moving’, while his profile location has been changed to USA.
The Lord Mayor took to Facebook to reveal that his X (Twitter) account of 16 years had been hacked.
“My official Twitter account of 16 years was hacked and renamed to a WWII pilot this week, but that didn’t raise any suspicions at X,” he posted.
“We’ve been trying to get the account restored but the folks at X rejected our request, which is weird.
“If anyone has Elon Musk’s mobile number, I’d love a quick chat ideally before his trip to Mars.
“In the meantime, Brisbane residents can continue to get all my updates on here (Facebook).”
The account, which boasts over 7000 followers, as well as all the posts previously put up by the Mayor and his social media team remain active.
