Man in his 80s drowned after going missing at Broadbeach
An elderly man has drowned after he went missing in the ocean on the Gold Coast this afternoon.

An elderly man has drowned after he went missing in the ocean at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast this afternoon.
At around 4:40pm, emergency services received reports of a missing swimmer.
Police units and five Queensland Ambulance Service crews all rushed to the scene.
A search and rescue mission was immediately launched to locate the man in his 80s.
He was found in the water and brought to shore, where paramedics assessed his life-threatening injuries.
Despite attempts to provide medical assistance, the man was declared dead at the scene.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
