Mermaid Beach MP's epic on-camera meltdown

MERMAID Beach MP Ray Stevens has had an epic on-camera meltdown over his involvement in a proposed Gold Coast cableway.

A Youtube video posted by political website Independent Australia, shows Mr Stevens waving his arms and using his hands to impersonate a quacking duck after he was questioned on the project at a pre-polling booth.

“Please make an appointment through the office and we’ll do an interview then thank you,” he said when the reporter introduced himself.

The reporter said he had tried that without any success and asked Mr Stevens why he would not release an integrity commissioner’s report into his link to the plan.

Mr Stevens walked away and tried unsuccessfully to give a passer-by a campaign flyer.

He then stood with his arms out in front of the reporter, waving his arms and doing an awkward side-to-side dance, before making a quacking duck beak with his hand and swatting at the reporter like a fly.

Mr Stevens did not speak while he danced.

The Bulletin has attempted to contact Mr Stevens.

More to come.
