Opposition leader Tim Nicholls was back on the Gold Coast today at spruik the LNP’s latest attempt to woo voters.
Mr Nicholls had a roll at the Musgrave Hills Bowls Club, in the marginal seat of Bonney, before talking to some Gold Coast bowlers.
“Seniors can save potentially up to $720 a year by travelling in off-peak times,” he said.
“When you are on a fixed income, it’s important because it helps you make ends meet.”
Seniors can already travel on any Gold Coast bus for free under a scheme by the Gold Coast City Council.
The LNP’s plan will expand that program to include the G: Link and train services.
A one-year drivers licence currently costs $72.25, meaning a $38 savings for seniors.
The plan is expected to cost about $114 million over three years.
