Labor tipped for Gold Coast comeback after a new seat and shock compulsory preferential voting

LABOR is poised to make a comeback to the Glitter Strip with the possibility of gaining at least three seats at the next poll courtesy of a boundary redistribution and new preference voting deal.

Political analysts predict a new seat in the north will be Labor friendly as it is likely to include the working-class areas around Beenleigh, Loganlea and Eagleby.

The LNP’s move in State Parliament this week to expand the number of electorates from 89 to 93 seats will spark boundary changes in several Coast seats.
