THE Greens are demanding the controversial Adani coal mine be scrapped if they are going to support either party in any “balance of power” negotiations after tomorrow’s election.
The party has released a list of seven key demands with the major point being revoking Adani’s mining licence and $360 million royalty break.
Despite the demands, Greens lead spokeswoman Amy MacMahon already ruled out working with two other parties.
“We have said that we will never support the LNP and One Nation, instead it’s likely we will seek to work with Labor, and to reach an arrangement for progressive, stable and effective government,” she said.
Other demands include banding corporate donations and “cash for access” meetings with politicians, building enough homes to get the 29,000 people of the social housing waiting list, establishing a public infrastructure bank, introducing a developer tax, universal healthcare and cheaper public transport with $1 fares for all Queenslanders.
Ms MacMahon the Greens had a chance to win up to three seats in this election.
“This election Queenslanders have an incredible opportunity to demand a future for all of us, and if Greens are elected we will fight to make sure our government actually changes people’s lives for the better,” she said.
“What’s the point of a government that leaves people homeless, tolerates legalised bribery like corporate donations, and rolls over for a dodgy multinational like Adani.”
