CLIVE Palmer was missing in action again when his Palmer United Party had their election launch on the Gold Coast this morning.
PUP Burleigh candidate Jim MacAnally was left to answer questions in Mr Palmer’s absence.
When pressed, Mr MacAnally said Mr Palmer was stepping out of the spotlight during the campaign to give new state party leader John Bjelke-Petersen a chance to build his profile.
“He wants John to take leadership of the campaign,” he said.
Mr Palmer did not turn up to PUP’s state launch on the Sunshine Coast yesterday.
Mr Bjelke-Petersen missed today’s campaign launch as well because he was campaigning in Brisbane instead.
Ten of the 11 PUP candidates were introduced by Mr MacAnally and Senator Dio Wang.
The launch was staged at Mr Palmer’s Merrimac resort, Avica.
Senator Wang said the party had made a difference federally and could do the same in Queensland.
