Queensland running out of Pfizer vaccine

GOLD Coast Mayor Tom Tate says he is “deeply disturbed” by the state’s dwindling stock of Pfizer Covid vaccine, warning it could leave the city devastated.

The state government on June 30 said there were just eight days of supply of the jab left in the state, with the federal government rejecting a request for more.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk took aim at the Morrison Government over the supply issues.

Cr Tate, who is fully vaccinated, urged all parties to come to an agreement and questioned why Queensland was being snubbed.

“The low stocks are a real concern. It’s like you’re in a battle and you’re running out of bullets,” he said.

“The pandemic is coming and we need to defend ourselves.

“I look at things in simple facts. If Victoria can get an extra 100,000 does, why not Queensland?”

Cr Tate urged anyone who could get vaccinated to get the jab.

“From a scientific point of view, vaccination is the path which takes us to being able to live with Covid,” he said.

Vaccination program a 'shambles'

“I’ve done my part and anyone who can should get it but check with your doctor. I’m an engineer, not a doctor.

“Just look at the UK….they were coming good because of vaccination and if you look at case studies, those countries who have done this are recovering.”
