Home destroyed as firefighters battle Ningi house fire

A family has lost everything after a fire completely gutted their Ningi home on Monday morning.

The White’s were left with just the clothes on their back after a blaze broke out in the garage, taking hold of the whole house.

Four fire fighting crews were called just after 10.30am to the Pristine Place address to contain the flames.

When crews arrived on scene the house was well alight.

The owner, family and neighbours were left to watch as the roof of the house caved in, the home reduced to a smouldering rubble before their eyes.

Greg and Annette’s teenage granddaughter was home when the fire broke out, thankfully she escaped unharmed.

She was assessed by Queensland Ambulance Service officers at the scene for emotional distress but wasn’t taken to hospital.

Mr and Mrs White said they have received an outpouring of support from the community.

“The community help has been amazing so far, we are so blessed,” they said.

“There are so many amazing people in our local community including the fire brigade, the ambos and the police.

“We love our street and the surrounds and the emergency services.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family by neighbour Emily Thornton.

“As most of you are aware there was a house fire in Ningi … my neighbours have lost absolutely everything they ever owned,” she said.

“We are in desperate need of anything that may help them build their lives back up.

“Ladies clothes size 10/12 and men’s size 33 pants and large shirts, men’s size 10 shoes.

“If you’d like to donate, every little bit helps.”

The family have also been inundated online with offers of everything from clothing, toiletries, food and whitegoods.

The pair have lived in Pristine Place for the past three years.

They say they are incredibly humbled by the community response.

“The basic generosity has been wonderful, even from people we have never met,” Mr and Mrs White said.

“Even though we have lost everything and felt helpless, we feel like we have lost nothing because of the wonderful community support.

“We are fortunate to have family and friends to provide community support.”

A Queensland Police Service officer told the Caboolture Herald it appeared the fire began in the garage before spreading to the rest of the house.

The officer said the cause of the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
