Police launch investigation into ‘complex’ alleged assault after Palmerston woman in critical condition

Police have launched an investigation into an alleged ‘complex’ incident which left a woman in a critical condition.

A woman has been left in a “critical condition” after an alleged assault in a Palmerston home on Saturday.

After the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of a woman who was “seriously ill”, NT Police and St John Ambulance attended the Palmerston address.

The woman was taken by paramedics to Royal Darwin Hospital with suspected head injuries.

After a short chase on foot near the property, police officers arrested a 57-year-old man.

No charges have been laid.

The Northern Domestic Violence Investigation Unit has now launched an investigation into the alleged incident.

However, police said the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident are “complex” and they have asked anyone who may have relevant information to contact them on 131 444 and referencing NTP2500065811
