Pimlico State High School students to perform at Sydney Opera House

Some of Pimlico State High School’s very best music students are set to grace the stage of one of Australia’s most iconic venues, the Sydney Opera House.

Some of Pimlico State High School’s very best music students are set to grace the stage of one of Australia’s most iconic venues, the Sydney Opera House.

As part of the Australian International Music Festival, three of the school’s elite musical ensembles will travel to Sydney to showcase their talents from July 5 to 12.

The ensembles, comprising the Symphony Orchestra, Blue Brass, and Orpheus Chamber

Strings, will perform at renowned venues including The University of NSW, The Australian National Maritime Museum, The Chatswood Concourse, and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, culminating in a performance at the Sydney Opera House.

Pimlico SHS head of music Ashley Baxter said providing life-changing school experiences like this was “what makes Pimlico such a special place”.

“State schools truely are great school,” Ms Baxter said.

Before heading to Sydney, the students presented a special free concert at their home venue, the Denise Glasgow Performing Arts Centre, allowing the Townsville community to enjoy their performances.
