Pet owners in Townsville’s southern suburbs won’t have far to go to stock up on the essentials for their furry, scaly, or feathered family members after Petstock opened its purr-fectly located new store in Idalia.

Founded in Victoria in 2002, Petstock began building its Townsville fanbase with its top-quality pet care products, services, advice, and rewards programs at Domain Central in 2011.

Recognising North Queensland’s growth potential, Petstock was inspired to expand its footprint by opening its 252nd store next to Fairfield Central Shopping Centre over the weekend.

Employing 10 staff, the new 1000 sqm store at 2/30 Lakeside Dr has a full pet specialty offering, along with live animals, grooming services, DIY dog wash and a dedicated puppy school area.

Petstock Fairfield store manager Monique Sharpe said they received an excellent response from the Townsville community after throwing open their doors last Saturday, with a “constant flow of customers with plenty of familiar faces”.

“Fairfield central shopping centre is a perfect location, and the centre aligns with our values,” Ms Sharpe said.

She said Petstock differed from its competitors with its continued focus on customer service and customer interactions and its close relationship with rescue, rehabilitation and animal therapy charity groups both nationally and locally through the Petstock Foundation.

“We are looking forward to focusing on our adoption group relationships already existing with Angel Paws through our Domain store, who have also commenced a food drive with Fairfield Central earlier this year,” she said.

“We plan to hold adoption days throughout 2025 closely with the centre.”
