Imagine if something at work didn’t go your way, so you responded by just chucking a hissy fit and walking off the job for the day.
And then imagine having the gall to even think that tomorrow you can just show up to work as if nothing happened - and continue to expect that your $250,000-plus salary package continues to be paid.
It sounds crazy.
And yet that is exactly what members of the militant construction union the CFMEU did this morning - following the High Court’s decision to not overturn the forced administration of the union, which came after years of it using its muscle to hold building sites to ransom.
The result of those years of snap strikes is that a generation of Queenslanders cannot afford to buy a first home any more.
But the CFMEU doesn’t care about the rest of us, as they proved again this morning when their massive sook shut down large parts of the city and made the rest of us late for work.
The union members could not done a better job of proving to Queenslanders why they need to be better enforced if they had tried.
Yes they have a legal right to protest. But they also legally have to show up to work, and stay at work until it is time to go home - just as every other Queensland worker actually does. It’s beyond a joke. This union needs to be shut down.
