A man is in hospital with critical injuries, while a woman has suffered serious burns, after an explosion in a Hurstville home on Tuesday.
Emergency services were called to Dora St, Hurstville about 8.46am to reports of a fire.
When they arrived emergency services found no signs of fire at the property but found evidence a flash explosion had occurred, Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Adam Dewberry said.
“There was no fire but there was some kind of flash explosion causing significant burns with one person looking quite critical and the other person suffering some serious injuries,” Mr Dewberry said.
A man, believed to be in his 30s, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.
A woman, believed to be in her 30s, was treated by paramedics before being taken to Concord Hospital in a serious condition.
Investigations into the nature of the explosion are ongoing.
