Tweed Valley Way closed after serious crash

A major thoroughfare near the Qld-NSW border has been closed after a serious two-vehicle crash, leaving motorists stuck in heavy afternoon traffic. Here’s the latest.

A major thoroughfare near the Qld-NSW border has been closed after a serious two-vehicle crash, leaving motorists stuck in heavy afternoon traffic.

About 12.45pm on Thursday, emergency services were called to Tweed Valley Way at Condong following reports of a crash.

Police arrived to find a Volkswagen Passat and a Subaru Forester had collided near the Clothiers Creek Rd exit.

Police say the male driver of the Passat was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being flown to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.

The female driver of the Forester was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken by road to the same hospital.

Tweed-Byron police are looking into the circumstances of the crash.

As of 3.40pm, the road remains closed with diversions are in place. Police say the road will remain closed for several hours.
