An 18-year old man was arrested and charged with 12 offences relating to an investigation into alleged car thefts in the Tweed/Byron region.
The arrest was made at 5.50pm on Friday at a unit in Channel Place in Kingscliff almost two years after Tweed/Byron police established Operation Marauder in response to increased property and vehicle thefts.
Detectives arrested the 18-year old and took him to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with stealing a car, reckless driving and three counts of drive conveyance without the owner's consent and three counts of license being expired less than two years before.
He was also charged with two counts of disposing property stolen outside NSW and two counts of being carried in conveyance without an owners consent.
The man was refused bail and will face Lismore Bail Court on Saturday.
