Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s barking pooch has been waking Kirribilli House neighbours, prompting a charm offensive from his wife Jenny.

Even the First Dog of Australia gets the blues.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s vocal dog Buddy has been causing a stir among Kirribilli House neighbours when it returns from its regular trips to Canberra.

The recent rains have forced the “well-loved” schnoodle inside, according to the PM’s office, leading to some exuberant behaviour when he does get to the gates.

A neighbour of the PM’s harbourside residence says the designer dog has been “really annoying”.

“I hear the dog barking at all hours and he’s often standing at the gates and peering out by himself, looking bored,” the neighbour, who did not want to be named, said.

“He’s just standing there hoping someone will interact with him. I feel bad when I go out for a walk and he can’t come with me.”

But far from being unwalked, Mr Morrison’s office said the pooch was regularly exercised, mainly by the PM’s wife Jenny Morrison.

A second resident complained to guards about the noise coming from the schnauzer-poodle cross, which often wanders back and forth along the gates to the 4046sqm property.

The Sunday Telegraph has confirmed the First Lady “was kind enough to send flowers to one of the people who complained and she called in to say hello”.

The pooch spends most of its time at Kirribilli House with the family cat Charlie, who the Morrisons have had since their two daughters were very young.

A PMO spokesman said: “Buddy has been a well-loved addition to the Morrison household since soon before they moved to Kirribilli.

“He’s a very happy dog and goes for regular walks, usually with Mrs Morrison.

“He can get a bit excited by the passing ferries and bush turkeys that roam around the local area.”

North Sydney Mayor Jilly Gibson, who lives within 100m of the property, said she was unaware of any noise complaints.

However, she did offer to take the canine for a walk “so Buddy can find some local buddies”.
