Sarah Elizabeth Smith, 42, faced court for intent to murder charge after alleged stabbing man in neck at Bonville

A 42-year-old woman has been charged with the attempted murder of a man known to her on the state’s Mid-North Coast after police responded to reports of a stabbing.

A 42-year-old woman has been charged with the attempted murder of a man known to her on the state’s Mid-North Coast.

Sarah Elizabeth Smith faced Coffs Harbour Local Court on Monday following an alleged murder attempt on Strouds Rd, Bonville shortly after 7.30pm on Sunday.

Officers arrived at the scene after reports of a stabbing and were told a man, known to the accused, had been “stabbed in the neck”.

The 42-year-old man was rushed to Coffs Harbour Health Campus where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Smith was charged with wounding/grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to murder and reckless wounding.

Police have also placed an apprehended violence order on the woman.

Smith was refused bail by Magistrate Julia Virgo and returns to court on April 15.
