Residents evacuated as bus crash causes gas leak in Guildford

A bus crashed into a home in Western Sydney earlier this morning, triggering a gas leak and causing the evacuation of residents from their homes.

A bus has ploughed into a home in Western Sydney, creating chaotic scenes and destroying the front of a property, which had residents evacuated from their homes early this morning.

Emergency services were called to Guildford Rd, in Guildford about 10.20am on Sunday following reports that a bus had crashed into a house.

The bus, is alleged to have been travelling about 60 km/h, which caused significant structural damage to the home, while triggering a gas leak which forced residents to evacuate the property.

People in the home left unscathed, with no injuries reported among the residents.

Passengers, were also left accounted for, as they exited the bus prior to emergency crews arriving.

A 60-year-old bus driver sustained minor injuries and was assisted by fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) after being exposed to asbestos from the damaged building.

The driver was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a negative result.

Guildford Rd remains closed in both directions, with police urging the public to avoid the area.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
