Police CCTV appeal over masked man after 10 firearms stolen from Chipping Norton home

Police have released CCTV footage of a man clad in a latex mask after an arsenal of firearms were stolen from a Chipping Norton home.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Drug and Firearms Squad have released CCTV footage following the theft of 10 firearms during a break-in at a Chipping Norton home earlier this year.

Police were called to a property on Bon St at about 7.30pm January 25, after reports of a break and enter.

The homeowners, who had left for holidays earlier that day, were alerted around 3pm when they noticed an unknown man on their CCTV via a mobile phone app.

Investigations revealed a total of five rifles and five pistols, estimated to be worth around $11,000, were stolen from two separate safes inside the home.

Local police established a crime scene and commenced initial inquiries before the matter was referred to State Crime Command’s Drug & Firearms Squad under Strike Force Amoco.

As inquiries continue, detectives have released CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist with the investigation.

He is described as being of caucasian appearance, approximately 180cm to 185cm tall, with a medium build.

At the time, he was wearing a full-face latex mask, a white long-sleeve shirt, black pants, black shoes, and was carrying a black duffel bag with white details.

Police believe the man was travelling in a white Mazda CX5 GT SP, featuring black rims, black side mirrors, and a sunroof.

Authorities are urging anyone who recognises the man or has information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
