Pasifika Youth Rugby Cup photo gallery, stars, standouts, top scorers on day 1 and day 2

They are the future stars of the game and around 1700 rugby young guns ran out on the opening days of the Pasifika Cup. Stars, standouts, great photos and result snapshot of every age

It was hot, windy but the action was sensational as 1700 young rugby players took to the pitch for the fourth Pacifika youth cup rugby tournament in Sydney.

The event is one of the most anticipated in junior rugby during the year and the opening two days did not disappoint.

The event is a way of showcasing the heritage and culture of young players in NSW,.

It is also a way of introducing young footballers to the game and giving other talented teams more opportunity to play.

PASIFIKA CUP UNDER 12 BOYS RESULT SNAPSHOT

In the boys under 12s, Tonga came out with a bang for a 47–5 victory over Fiji early on Saturday and then backed it up with a 27–0 win over the Solomon Islands.

Kieron Taimani scored a hat-trick in the first game with Gianni Fetuani going over twice.

Captain Fetuli Toamotu had a hot boot with six conversions.

Earlier the Solomon Islands had started well with a 24–7 win over Koori.

Samoa also scored a whopping win with their 48–0 defeat of the Cook Islands.

Uriyah Metcalf, Kroyden Taefu and Cyrus Faleafaga all scored two tries each in this match for Samoa.

They then backed it up with a an identical scoreline against the Barbarians

Taefu and Metcalf scored two more tries each in this match in an impressive opening day performance.

It was a closer match between the Koori team and Fiji with Koori just edging their rivals 10–7.

In other matches Tonga beat the Solomon Islands 17–0, the Cook Islands beat NSW Maori 17–5 and NSW Maori beat the Barbarians 17–10

PASIFIKA CUP UNDER 12 GIRLS RESULT SNAPSHOT

The under 12 girls had a big day out on Friday with the Cook Islands beating the Barbarians 22–12, Samoa beating NSW Māori Kotiro 67–0 and Koori just edging Koori 17–15.

Tonga then defeated the Cook Islands 24–15 with Maori beating Fiji 32–10 and Tonga smashing the barbarians 41–0.

In this match Malia Fitikefu scored a sensational hat-trick with Kailia Sikuli converting three.

Maori beat the Cook Islands 29–17, Koori beat Fiji 27–20 and Tonga defeated Maori 10–0

In the Koori v Fiji match Sharlah-may Nayagodamu was a stand up with four tries.

PASIFIKA CUP UNDER 13 BOYS RESULT SNAPSHOT

In the under 13 boys competition Samoa beat the barbarians 54–0 in one of the first games.

In a close battle Koori just beat Newcastle Pacifika 15–14 while the Cook Islands took down Maori 47–0 and Tonga beat Fiji 59–0.

On Saturday Samoa beat the Cook Islands 12–0, Koori beat Fiji 19–5, the Maori and Barbarians teams played out the first draw of the comp with their 19–19 thriller while Tonga defeated Newcastle Pacifika 39–0

Samoa beat Maori Tama 5-0 and Newcastle Pacifika beat Fiji 12-0.

PASIFIKA CUP UNDER 14 BOYS RESULT SNAPSHOT

In the boys under 14s Maori beat Fiji 12–0, the Barbarians fell to Tonga 17-12 and Koori beat the Cook Islands 21-7.

Other results included Tonga‘s 26–5 win over Koori, Maori Tama‘s 40–7 win over the Cook Islands, Tonga‘s 24–7 win over Fiji and the Barbarians and Samoa playing out a 12–12 draw

In Maori Tama’s win Karelia Faulkner made five conversions and scored a try in a stand-up performance.

On Friday some of the results included Tonga beating Maori 19–7, Samoa beating Fiji 5–0 the barbarians downed Koori 21–10 and Samoa defeating the Cook Islands 35–7.

PASIFIKA CUP UNDER 14 GIRLS RESULT SNAPSHOT

In the under 14 girls on Friday Māori Kotiro kicked off the competition with a rolling 55–0 win over Fiji.

Eden Hape-Va’a scored two tries in this battle while Alierah Hukui made four conversions and also scored a try

Tonga then defeated Koori 41–7.

The Cook Islands beat the barbarians 22–5 and Samoa beat the Cook Islands 25–0.

PASIFIKA CUP UNDER 15 BOYS RESULT SNAPSHOT

Under 15 boys Tonga made a strong start to the competition with a 24–0 win over Maori.

Monson Horrie was the star of this show with a try and two conversions.

Fiji also took the win in their match against Samoa 5–0.

On Friday Samoa defeated the barbarians 24–0 in the under 16s.

Anthony Leao-Seve made a great start to the tournament with two tries in this game.

Maori then defeated Koori 26-0

On Saturday other results were; Samoa beat Fiji 10–7, the Cook Islands beat Koori 19–0, Maori beat the Barbarians 12–8, the Cook Islands beat the Barbarians 22–5, Samoa beat Maori 33–0 and Fiji beat Koori 26–3.

PASIFIKA CUP UNDER 16 BOYS RESULT SNAPSHOT

There was some great competition in this age group with a late game on Saturday seeing Fiji down Koori 26-3

In the same competition NSW Samoa smashed NSW Maori 33-0 and the Cooks Island beat the Barbarians 22-5.

In other matches Maori beat the Barbarians 12-8, the Cook Islands beat Koori 19-0 and NSW Samoa beat Fiji 10-7.

On Friday Maori beat Koori 26-0 and NSW Samoa beat the Barbarians 24-0.

PASIFIKA CUP UNDER 16 GIRLS RESULT SNAPSHOT

In the under 16 Girls Samoa made a big statement in their opener with a 56–0 victory over Koori.

Milan Cahill and Hanna Masic both went over twice in this battle

Maori then edged the Barbarians 15–12 before the Cook Islands defeated Koori 41–0.

On Saturday Samoa beat Fiji 20–5, Tonga beat Maori 10-0 and the Barbarians pulled out a big 58–0 win over Koori.

Matisse Frank’s had a massive game, scoring a hat-trick for the barbarians with Matilda Senior also scoring two tries and making two conversions.

PASIFIKA CUP UNDER 18 BOYS RESULT SNAPSHOT

In the under 18 boys the barbarians beat Niue 17–0 and Queensland Samoa beat Koori 27–0 in early matches on Saturday.

Micah Figota was the star of the show for Samoa with two tries

In other matches Samoa beat the Cook Islands 19–5 and Fiji and Maori Tama played out a 10-10 draw.

On Friday Samoa beat Niue 29–0 and Maori Tama beat Koori 36–7.

PASIFIKA CUP UNDER 18 BOYS RESULT SNAPSHOT

In the under 18 girls Queensland Samoa beat the Cook Islands 36-0 and NSW Samoa took down the Barbarians 26–19 in a strong start to the tournament

Danielle Tutakangahau scored a hat-trick in this match against the Cook Islands and also made three conversions in a top performance for her Queensland side.

Saige Tautalafua scored twice for the NSW Samoan side.

In earlier matches Fiji beat the Barbarians 10-0, Samoa beat Koori 7–5, the Cook Islands beat Maori 12–7, Barbarians beat Queensland Samoa 12–7 and Koori just edged the Cook Islands 25–22.
