NSW weather: Evacuation orders for Narrabeen, McGraths Hill, Mulgrave

Residents of McGraths Hill, Mulgrave and Narrabeen have been instructed to evacuate along with parts of Singleton in the Hunter, with heavy rainfall and wild winds expected across Sydney overnight. See how Tuesday's weather unfolded.

Severe thunderstorm brings flash flooding to Sydney

All corners of Sydney have been smashed by heavy rain and flash flooding, with a mother and son killed, backyards becoming swimming pools, front yards almost slipping away and roads better resembling rivers.

Residents of McGraths Hill and Mulgrave have been told to evacuate by 8.30pm Tuesday night. Meanwhile, Narrabeen Lagoon properties were instructed to evacuate by 7pm.

Earlier on Tuesday, locals in low lying Camden streets were warned to leave their homes with the Nepean River forecast to potentially rise to 15 metres - another three metres above its current level.

There are currently more than 60 evacuation orders across NSW impacting 40,000 people, and evacuation warnings impacting 20,000 people.
