A town’s popular postie and his partner have shared their heartbreak after their two-year-old daughter received a cancer diagnosis.
Jamie Doran – the longtime postie for Nowra – and his partner Courtney McEntee, were told their little girl Georgie has leukaemia.
“We can’t believe our perfect girl has been given this diagnosis,” Ms McEntee said.
“We are beyond shattered and are not able to comprehend or put into words what is happening right now.”
Mr Doran and Ms McEntee will spend at least six weeks beside their little girl’s side in the Randwick Children’s Hospital.
Friend and family member Chloe Smith said Mr Doran would be taking a lengthy period off work while he tended to Georgie and looked after her sister Lily and brothers Archie and Ollie.
“They face an incredibly challenging road ahead,” she said.
“But, the amazing doctors and nurses are doing everything they can to help.”
To support her family, Ms Smith has launched a GoFundMe, with all funds raised set to help Mr Doran and Ms McEntee during their difficult time.
“With so much uncertainty ahead, we want to do everything we can to support this beautiful family and help ease the financial burden that comes with such an overwhelming journey.”
In just days, thousands has been raised to help the Nowra family.
Ms McEntee said she and Mr Doran were “overwhelmed” by the community’s generosity.
“I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone,” she said.
Ms Smith urged the community to share her uncle’s story to help Georgie get the support she desperately needs.
“No amount is too small and every bit of support will go a long way,” she said.
