Incredible vision has emerged of ferocious waves ripping through Bondi’s famous Icebergs pool, resulting in a damage bill worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The CCTV, which was obtained exclusively by The Daily Telegraph, shows a wall of water crashing through the club’s lifeguard tower at roughly 11:30pm on Tuesday night.

Bob Tate, the General Manager of Bondi Icebergs said: “we got here early this morning and it was total devastation. There was shattered glass everywhere, bollards bent over. The lifeguard’s tower - doors smashed, cupboard doors ripped off their hinges.

“The water coming through here would have had to been at least 10 metres off the pool deck height” Mr Tate said.

Mr Tate said the damage bill would be “hundreds of thousands of dollars” and about 15 panels of toughened glass had been smashed in the weather event, while a 20 tonne water tank was picked up and washed away.

“The pool manager has been here 25 years. I’m a 50 year member. I’ve never seen any form of devastation like this” Mr Tate told this masthead.

Mr Tate warned there was another two metre swell for midnight and the club was “trying desperately” to clean up the glass, secure everything and “put the seatbelt on.”

Thee club was forced to close the pool on Tuesday during low tide because of the rising water. It’s understood a lifeguard had a lucky escape after being almost washed away as staff closed the facility.

It’s understood the club have insurance.

A king tide paired with a storm surge from a low-pressure system off the coast, has flooded several homes in Sydney’s south overnight.

Water began entering properties at Dolls Point shortly before midnight, with nearly a dozen homes affected.

Residents, who chose not to evacuate, told the Today Show that flooding has occurred before but never to this extent.

The storm also caused severe damage to infrastructure, with heavy concrete slabs from footpaths tossed around by the waves.

Fire and Rescue NSW and the SES worked to provide sandbags and minimise damage.

Dolls Point resident Anna Phillip, who lives with her parents, said they hadn’t seen anything like this before.

“We had something similar happen last year … but this time the pavement broke, this is probably the worst I’ve ever seen,” she said.

“I think the highest point of the tide was around 11:30pm, at that point everything was rattling in the house and the water was going into everyone’s driveways.”

While the floodwaters have now receded, authorities warn of ongoing coastal hazards.

Meanwhile, surfers have been making the most of the wild conditions, tackling 10ft waves at Lurline Bay and Coogee Bombie, breaks that come alive in heavy swells.

Emergency services remain on alert as Sydney’s coastline continues to experience rough conditions.
