Joshua Fisher pleads not guilty after Eastwood multiple-vehicle crash in July 2023

An SUV driver who was allegedly behind the wheel when a 61-year-old woman was killed in a multi-vehicle crash at Eastwood is set to face trial two years after the incident.
Bateau Bay man Joshua Fisher’s case was listed for arraignment at Downing Local Court on Friday when pleas of not guilty were entered to driving offences following the incident at an intersection on the afternoon of July 12, 2023.
Ryde police arrived at Blaxland Rd and First Ave to find a Mitsubishi SUV, driven by Fisher, a Holden Commodore, Kia SUV, Toyota sedan, Audi hatchback and a van had crashed about 1.30pm.
Paramedics treated the Holden passenger Swee Be-An Chew but she died at the scene. The 67-year-old driver of that car was treated and taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
A 63-year-old woman, who was the other passenger of the Holden, was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital also in a critical condition.
Fisher was treated for a head injury and taken to hospital in a stable condition.
He pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous, two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death) and two counts of negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm).
The trial is listed at Sydney District Court on September 1.
