A serious case of horsing around at a McDonalds drive thru on the Central Coast has gone viral.
The video of a horse named “Rocco”, in the back seat of a hatchback eagerly awaiting its soft serve ice cream, has more than 850,000 hits.
A woman in the neighbouring drive-through lane of McDonalds Wyong captured the video this week, captioning it on TikTok with “nice dog” and “only in Australia”.
The woman winds down her window and asks the hatchback driver “is that a horse in your car?”.
The hatchback driver laughs as she responds “he’s excited for his ice cream”.
“Oh my God,” the woman responds before the driver introduces the horse as “Rocco” who was seen nodding excitedly.
The viral video has more than 1100 comments with viewers commenting that this was an “average day in Australia”.
Australian commentators hammed it up, adding to the illusion that every Aussie has a personal kangaroo on the global platform.
“It’s very normal! I have a kangaroo, it’s very normal in Australia,” @charr commented on the post.
“I have actually seen this exact thing happen when I worked in a servo,” another user commented.
There were multiple puns regarding “horsepower” being used to start the car, while others said they were more surprised the ice cream machine was working at McDonalds.
Previous McDonalds employees suggested a horse was the lesser of strange things they had seen in the drive-through.
A user commented that she also saw a “baby cow” and a “sheep” in the back seat of a car while she was on shift.
This is not the first time McDonalds Wyong, opposite Tuggerah station, has set social media off.
The restaurant on Anzac Rd Tuggerah is notorious for going underwater during flooding events, with boats and jet skis known to pay a visit.
The drive-through made headlines in Feb 2020 when a boogie boarder was filmed in deep water paddling up to the drive-through to make an order.
