Helicopter crashes into power lines, pilot critical

A man is in a critical condition after the helicopter he was piloting crashed into power lines in the Western Riverina region. Emergency services are at the scene.

A man is in a critical condition after the helicopter he was piloting crashed into power lines in a remote area in regional NSW.

Emergency crews were called to a property on Carrathool Rd, Conargo in the Western Riverina region after the helicopter plummeted to the ground after hitting power lines.

The accident happened just after 11am on Friday.

Three ambulance crews and a specialist medical team treated the male pilot before transferring him to Melbourne Hospital.

It is understood the man was trapped inside the wreckage for sometime before being freed.
