Daryl Maguire spotted at his Ivanhoe holiday rental while on bail
Disgraced former Liberal MP Daryl Maguire has been photographed outside his holiday rental he runs in outback NSW while awaiting his appeal against a jail sentence.
Fallen former Liberal MP Daryl Maguire has been spotted at Ivanhoe in the State’s far west on Saturday where he runs a holiday rental called “Mrs Kendalls”.
In August, Maguire was handed a 10-month jail sentence for giving misleading evidence to the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption, but was granted bail pending an appeal.
Photos seen by The Daily Telegraph show Maguire out the front of Mrs Kendalls “Chateaux Valarie” last week in khaki work clothes and a wide-brimmed hat that he used to cover his face.
As part of his bail conditions, Maguire had to surrender his passport and has to contact the Australian Border Force every time he leaves his Wagga Wagga home.
If he has to travel almost five hours north to Ivanhoe and stay overnight for his holiday rental business, Maguire has to report his “intended travel and length of stay” to his ABF officer via email “no later than 12 hours prior to travel”.
The conditions apply until Maguire returns to court next year for a one-day hearing in Sydney after he was handed a 10-month jail sentence in August but was granted bail following an appeal of the decision.
The Telegraph understands Maguire did not break his bail conditions by visiting Ivanhoe on this occasion.
According to promotional materials for Mrs Kendalls, Maguire runs a “premium home style accommodation” featuring “revitalised historic buildings”.
It is understood Maguire has shifted to a career in the hotel business since he resigned from politics in disgrace in 2018.
It comes almost seven years after the former MP denied that he expected to benefit financially from a million-dollar property deal while he was a witness at an ICAC inquiry into Canterbury City Council.
At the time Maguire was in a relationship with former Liberal premier Gladys Berejiklian who was eventually brought down by the scandal.
No findings have been made against Ms Berejiklian.
