E-bike rider in serious condition after being hit by vehicle on northern beaches
An e-bike rider is in a serious condition after being hit by a vehicle in Mona Vale on Thursday afternoon.
An e-bike rider is fighting for life after being hit by a truck on Sydney’s northern beaches.
At around 3pm, emergency services were called to Barrenjoey Rd, near the Grandview Parade turnoff in Mona Vale, where they found a man in his 50s suffering chest and pelvic injuries, sustained from the collision with a Pantech truck.
Bystanders rushed to help the man, wrapping blankets around him before emergency services arrived.
Three ambulances have since arrived at the scene, with the Toll Helicopter landing nearby at Kitchener Park - which has since airlifted him to Royal North Shore Hospital.
Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command, and from the Crash Investigation Unit have established a crime scene, where they are currently investigating the incident.
The truck driver, a man in his 20s, was taken to Mona Vale Hospital for mandatory testing. He was not injured.
Two of the three southbound lanes of Barrenjoey Road are closed.
