Cherrybrook metro station precinct to get 410 homes through ALAND
The contract for hundreds of new homes along with public spaces and retail at one of northwest Sydney’s most popular metro stations has been awarded to one of the nation’s largest developers.
One of the nation’s largest development companies has been awarded the contract to build hundreds of new homes along with public spaces and retail at one of northwest Sydney’s busiest metro stations.
ALAND has been granted the contract to develop the 3.96ha Cherrybrook station precinct following a competitive process led by Landcom.
“The vision for the precinct is to transform the site into a vibrant, leafy, high density mixed-use, transit oriented community that brings new housing, public spaces, retail, services and community facilities to the area,” an ALAND spokesman said in a statement.
“The precinct will form a walkable neighbourhood directly connected to the metro, supporting government objectives to create sustainable communities close to transport, education and employment.”
The site is currently zoned to accommodate approximately 410 dwellings within a mixed-use environment.
The precinct is also set to include approximately half a hectare of publicly accessible open space to improve walkability and recreation for residents and visitors alike.
ALAND founder and owner Andrew Hrsto said it was a key opportunity to create a “connected, community-focused neighbourhood” in a prime Sydney growth area.
“Securing the Cherrybrook station precinct site is an important milestone for ALAND and demonstrates our commitment to delivering high-quality housing and essential amenity for the community,” Mr Hrsto said.
“This precinct will play a vital role in meeting Sydney’s housing needs while offering residents direct access to transport and exceptional convenience.”
Mr Hrsto also said the development would set a new benchmark for mixed-use living near a public transport hub.
“Cherrybrook will become a thriving village environment centred around public spaces, community facilities and everyday services,” Mr Hrsto said.
“We are proud to contribute to a project that supports sustainable, well-connected living and delivers real long-term value for the northwest.”
An earlier Planning NSW update expressed a vision for a “well-connected and walkable urban community” with increased tree canopies to retain the area’s well-known “leafy quality”.
The broader Cherrybrook precinct rezoning proposal includes plans for approximately 5200 homes to be delivered over the next 20 years, and capacity for 9350 new homes within walking distance of the station.
