An exciting new partnership with a global business promises to lift the long-running North Queensland financial advisory firm Carey Thomson Consulting and its support for regional Australian clients to the next level.

Founded in Ingham in 1951, the Carey Group has steadily grown to open five offices throughout Queensland, including in Townsville, where they assist businesses and individuals with their accounting and taxation needs, auditing, bookkeeping, self-managed superannuation, financial planning, and business advice.

Over the past four months, partnership discussions have been underway with Moore Australia (QLD/NNSW), a network of independent firms that provides audit, accounting, tax and business advisory services through a robust network in Central Queensland and northern New South Wales.

Moore Australia is a network of independent professional services firms with staff and offices across Australia and is also an independent member of Moore Global, the 11th largest professional services network in the world.

On July 1, Carey Thomson Consulting and Moore Australia (QLD/NNSW) launched their strategic joint venture, forming a new powerhouse in consulting – the Carey Thomson Moore (CTM) consulting business.

Carey Group chairman Joe Carey said joining forces with Moore Australia would significantly enhance their market reach and position Carey Group’s existing consulting and corporate finance team for even further growth and client impact.

“With Moore Australia’s strong presence across Australia, complemented by Carey Group’s strong presence throughout North Queensland, this joint venture unlocks immense value to our existing and future clients,” Mr Carey said.

Moore Australia (QLD/NNSW) chairman David O’Brien said was thrilled to see the regional offices team up.

“This collaboration, now stretching from Cairns to Coffs Harbour, is armed with a full suite of consulting services, with the strength of the Moore global network that the Moore brand offers both client bases,” Mr O’Brien said.

As part of this transition, Matt Thomson, Carey Group’s Townsville-based CEO for the past five years, has assumed the role of CEO at Moore Australia (QLD/NNSW), further solidifying the collaboration.

“The combined expertise of Moore Australia and Carey Group will undoubtedly enhance the services we provide, benefiting businesses and communities across the region,” Mr Thomson said.

“What’s exciting is just the breadth of skills and the scale of the operation will grow into a much larger and more significant operation.”
