Tropical Cyclone Fina leaves trail of destruction after hitting Top End

Cyclone Fina was felt across the Top End bringing heavy rain, gale force winds and plenty of destruction. See what damage she’s caused.

Cyclone Fina made herself felt across the Top End bringing heavy rain, gale force winds and plenty of destruction.

Gale force winds of 205km/h were hit the Tiwi Islands and the coast of Darwin as the Category 3 cyclone crossed north of the city on Saturday.

People were warned to bunker down or get into shelters earlier on Saturday as it became clearer of the intensity of the storm.

And while many did their best to strap everything down and secure their belongings mother nature had other plans with several trees uprooted and widespread damage to property.
